Writing Search Friendly Content

Search engines look for content to be relevant to the topic. A fruit site that has a page about sofas isn’t relevant. A fruit site that has content about fruit drinks is relevant.

Content is measured on relevance and something called "Keyword Density". This means that the search engine is looking for similar matching terms. To rank higher there should be a higher level of these matching terms (our keywords) relevant to other content.

Example:
Tasty fruit, I like tasty fruit, tasty fruit is good.

Our keyword here is "tasty fruit" and we have three instances of it versus four other words (I like is good). This is a high keyword density, as our keywords come up a lot compared to normal copy. There is a problem though, this isn’t a sentence a normal user would find enjoyable or interesting to read. A balance is needed between the keywords and the regular content. This is where the services of a good copywriter come in to make that balance rank well for the search engines and read well for the user. If we leave this type of sentence as is, the user will leave the site and that great ranking we have on the search engines would be wasted.
